Tamhini Ghat Rescue Team Saves Real Estate Broker's Life
A dramatic rescue operation was conducted by a team of volunteers in the Tamhini Ghat stretch under Mangaon taluka, Raigad, early on Friday morning. The team successfully rescued a 47-year-old real estate broker, Sandesh Hadvale, who had slipped 200ft down a valley while attending to nature's call.
According to the police, Hadvale was returning to Pune from Chiplun, Ratnagiri, with his driver when the accident occurred. The local police suspect him to have been under the influence of alcohol.
- Hadvale sustained massive fractures in his right leg besides other injuries.
- The rescue team, led by Sagar Dahimbekar, consists of 10 members from two teams, Sahyadri Vanyajeev Rakshanarth Samajik Sanstha and Vira Patnus team.
- The rescue operation was conducted under darkness, making it a tough and risky task.
- The rope brought by the rescue team from Vira Patnus team fell short of reaching the victim, prompting the second team to join the operation.
- The combined efforts of the rescue team and police finally pulled Hadvale out of the valley at 5:30 am.
Hadvale was rushed to a hospital in Pune in his car and is undergoing treatment for his injuries. The police added that he had allegedly crossed the gap between the roadside safety walls leading to his loss of balance.
Quote from Sagar Dahimbekar: "The operation conducted under darkness was a tough one, but we were determined to save the victim's life."
Quote from Constable Yuvraj Dahiphale: "The victim preferred to travel on his own car referring to his pre-existing ligament issues, so an ambulance was not used."
