Court halts illegal constructions by resort in Thrissur's Ex-servicemen Colony

Athirappilly Resort Construction Halted Amidst Lease Violations

A court order has been issued in the Athirappilly region, halting construction activities at a private resort for violating lease conditions.

The Chalakudy Munsiff Court took this action following a complaint filed by K Padmanabhan, the secretary of the Ex-servicemen Cooperative Society Colony.

  • Unauthorised Construction: The resort owner had carried out construction on land leased to the Ex-servicemen Colony, violating terms agreed upon.
  • Lack of Approval: The works were undertaken without obtaining mandatory approval from the panchayat authority.

An investigation by a court-appointed commission found that the resort was undertaking construction of a glass bridge and other high-value structures, involving investments worth crores.

The resort, located along the forest fringe at Pillappara, had failed to comply with a notice issued to halt work, prompting the complainant to move the court.

A police complaint had also been lodged against the illegal construction, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to regulations.
