Builder Arrested in Mumbai for Alleged Cheating of Rs 1.30 Crore

The Bandra police have made a significant arrest in a case of alleged cheating, apprehending Fahid Mehmood Qadri, a builder who had been on the run for over two and a half years.

  • Accused's Background: Fahid Mehmood Qadri and his accomplice Bilkis Qadri have been named as co-accused in the case.
  • Complaint Lodged: The complainant, Yasmin Abdul Saudagar, a resident of Mahim, lodged a complaint with the police after being allegedly cheated by Fahid Mehmood Qadri and his accomplice.
  • Investigation: According to the police, Yasmin was introduced to Fahid and Mehmood Qadri in 2016 by her brother, Ashfaq Saudagar, who deals in luxury cars.

The accused duo allegedly promised Yasmin a flat in an under-construction building or a double refund if the flat was not delivered within 15 months. However, the construction was never completed, and the flat was not handed over, despite repeated demands for a refund.

  • Investment Details: Yasmin reportedly paid Rs 50 lakh in cash and Rs 50 lakh via cheque initially, followed by another Rs 30 lakh in cash.
  • Agreement Terms: An agreement stated she would be allotted Flat 601 on the sixth floor within 15 months between June 2020 and September 2021, failing which she would receive Rs 2.60 crore.

A case of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and misappropriation has been registered based on Yasmin's complaint, and the accused are currently in police custody.
