TalabTillo Smart City Project Stalls Due to Incompetency of Officials
Sanjay Kumar Baru, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former JMC councillor, has expressed frustration over the haphazard execution of the Jammu Smart City Project in TalabTillo.
- Baru toured the area with local BJP leaders and highlighted several incomplete works, including:
- Laying of drains
- Construction of footpaths
- Installation of street lights
- Shifting of poles at the main road
According to Baru, the project was initially launched four years ago with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore, aiming to widen the main road and install new poles along with streetlights.
Key Issues:- Except for footpaths, the work on laying slabs over drainage ditches remains incomplete, causing frequent falls of locals into the drains.
- Electricity poles stand in the middle of the road despite the blacktopping, posing a threat to human life.
- Nuts and bolts for mounting new poles on footpaths have been installed, but the poles are yet to be erected.
Baru warned that if the works are not completed soon, the public, along with shopkeepers and local residents, will stage a sit-in protest at TalabTillo, and the responsibility will lie with the Smart City Project officials.
