State Industrial Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Proposes New Industrial Park at Maravanur

The State Industrial Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) has proposed to establish a new industrial park at Maravanur, near Manapparai, on the Tiruchi-Dindigul Highway.

Existing Industrial Parks in the Area

The proposed new industrial park will be located near existing parks promoted by SIPCOT at Kannudaiyanpatti, K. Periyapatti, and Chathirapatti.

  • Kannudaiyanpatti
  • K. Periyapatti
  • Chathirapatti

History of the Industrial Park Initiative

The Tamil Nadu state government initiated the establishment of an industrial park in Tiruchi district through a Government Order (GO) approximately 13 years ago.

  • Acquisition of 1,097 acres of land at Kannudaiyanpatti, K. Periyapatti, and Chathirapatti near Manapparai
  • Development of basic infrastructure, including roads, electricity, and drinking water
  • Earmarking of sites for different industrial categories

Progress of the Existing Industrial Park

The SIPCOT began issuing applications for land allotment to entrepreneurs in 2021.

  • Development of 396 acres out of 1,097 acres of available land
  • Earmarking of 131.92 acres for the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO)
  • Allotment of land to 30 industrial units on a 99-year lease

Expectations for the New Industrial Park

Given the initial sluggish response from industries, SIPCOT officials expect a surge in demand for the new park, which will have 288 acres of identified land.

The proposed new industrial park is expected to be a significant addition to the existing infrastructure in the area, providing entrepreneurs with an affordable long-term lease basis for their industrial ventures.
