Palghar Administration Dedicates Two Hours Daily to Resolve Land Acquisition Grievances

The district administration in Palghar, Maharashtra, has initiated a dedicated effort to address the concerns of landowners affected by the Vadhvan Port project.

  • Megha Parmar, District Project Head of the 'war room' in Palghar, stated that the administration is working tirelessly to resolve grievances, verify documentation, and ensure fair compensation for those impacted by the project.
  • Landowners can personally meet District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar to discuss their concerns and experiences during designated office hours: 11 am - 12 PM and 5 pm - 6 pm on working days.
  • Affected parties can voice unresolved issues, share feedback on the process, or report any unfair practices or demands.
  • The Vadhvan Port project, being constructed by Vadhvan Port Project Limited (VPPL), will comprise nine container terminals, four multipurpose berths, four liquid cargo berths, a Ro-Ro berth, and a Coast Guard berth.

The mega project involves the reclamation of 1,448 hectares of land and the construction of 10.14 km of offshore breakwater and container/cargo storage areas.

About the Vadhvan Port Project

  • The project is being developed by Vadhvan Port Project Limited (VPPL), a special purpose vehicle formed by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB).
  • The facility will have a total capacity of 9 container terminals, each 1,000-meter long.
  • The project aims to enhance maritime trade and commerce in the region.
