Businessman Anil Rathod Hacked to Death at Office in Kalaburagi

Businessman Anil Rathod, 45, was brutally hacked to death at his office in Kalaburagi late on Thursday night.

According to reports, three men arrived at Venkateswara Complex on Old Jewargi Road in an autorickshaw, broke in and attacked Rathod with machetes.

Rathod died on the spot, and the attackers fled immediately after.

Background of the Victim

Anil Rathod was the son-in-law of former Karnataka minister Revunayak Belamagi.

He was engaged in finance and real estate, operating out of his office in the P&T Colony area.

  • Rathod was known to frequent his office late into the night, often conducting business transactions.
  • His political connection, as son-in-law of a former minister, has added weight to the case.
  • The murder has sent a wave of tension through the city.

Motive Unclear, Financial Angle Suspected

The police have not yet officially established a motive for the killing.

However, they suspect the killing may be linked to a financial transaction or dispute, consistent with Rathod's work in the finance sector.

The fact that the attackers arrived armed, broke in, and made a swift exit points to premeditation.

Former Minister Breaks His Silence

Former minister Revunayak Belamagi, speaking to TV9 Kannada in visible grief, revealed that this is not the first violent loss his family has suffered.

  • A few years ago, a relative was pushed from a building and killed.
  • Belamagi demanded that police arrest the killers without delay.

Ongoing Investigation

Raids are ongoing, and investigators are pursuing multiple leads.

The police are analyzing CCTV footage from the area to gather more evidence.

A case has been registered at Station Bazar police station.
