Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko Reviews Progress of Pudukottai Overbridge Projects
On Saturday, Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko held a review meeting with Collector Aruna and senior officials to assess the progress of overbridge construction in Pudukottai.
Long-Pending Demands Met
The construction of overbridges at Karuvepilan and Thiruvapur has been a long-standing demand of the people of Pudukottai.
Review Meeting Highlights
- Mr. Durai Vaiko held a coordination meeting with officials on January 28 to review the progress of commitments provided.
- The Karuvepilan overbridge is being implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) as part of the four-lane work on the Tiruchi-Karaikudi Highway.
- The Land Plan Schedule was expected to be submitted to the Revenue Department by February 2026, but officials explained that there had been a delay due to the Assembly elections.
- Officials promised to submit the Land Plan Schedule by the end of June 2026, with land acquisition work to begin after that.
- It is expected that the work will commence in March 2028.
- Regarding the Thiruvapur overbridge, officials had previously informed that the land acquisition work would be completed within two months.
- However, there has been a delay due to differences of opinion among landowners regarding the compensation amount.
- Officials have promised to complete the land acquisition work by August 2026.
Mr. Durai Vaiko expressed his expectations for the timely completion of these projects, which will greatly benefit the people of Pudukottai.
