A video showing real estate developer Vishal Agarwal and his wife dancing with massive currency garlands has reignited nationwide fury over the tragic Kalyani Nagar crash.
Fresh public outrage has erupted over the infamous May 2024 Pune Porsche car accident case after a controversial video surfaced on social media, allegedly showing the prime accused and builder Vishal Agarwal celebrating with his family.
Vishal Agarwal, who spent 22 months in custody for his role in the cover-up of the fatal crash caused by his underage son, is seen alongside his family hosting a high-profile celebratory gathering. The visuals show Agarwal and his wife dancing to the classic Bollywood song, “Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Dosto Salaam Karo". Both are seen wearing massive garlands made entirely of high-denomination currency notes, an act that netizens have heavily criticised as a display of wealth and unvarnished arrogance. While the video is allegedly from the 25th anniversary celebration of Agrawals in 2023, it hasn’t stopped the Internet from calling out the family.
Pune Tragedy That Sparked Nationwide Fury
The Pune Porsche crash case sparked nationwide attention after a luxury Porsche allegedly driven by a minor under the influence of alcohol hit and killed two software engineers, Anish Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa, in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area on May 19, 2024.
The case drew public outrage after the Juvenile Justice Board initially granted the teenager bail within hours of the incident with conditions including writing an essay on road safety. Following criticism, the minor was later sent to an observation home while investigations expanded into alleged evidence tampering and procedural lapses.
‘No Shame or Accountability’: Netizens React
The viral celebration video has once again reignited a fierce debate on accountability and sensitivity in high-profile criminal cases. Social media users on X (formerly Twitter) did not hold back their disgust, pointing out the absolute lack of remorse from the family.
Reacting to the viral footage, one user wrote, “Kuch nahi ho sakta iss desh ka". They added: “A viral video now shows the accused family from the Pune Porsche crash case celebrating like nothing happened. Vishal Agarwal and his wife are seen dancing with huge garlands made of currency notes, allegedly celebrating his release on bail, singing “Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost". The sheer arrogance and lack of remorse is disgusting. Two innocent lives were lost, their families are still waiting for justice, and meanwhile the accused family is busy throwing lavish celebrations as if they achieved something heroic."
Another user wrote: “This is the same case where the minor’s family including the parents and grandfather were accused of colluding with doctors to swap the boy’s blood samples with his mother’s to allegedly hide alcohol consumption after the crash. Instead of shame or accountability, the country is watching a public display of money, influence, and entitlement."
The imagery of a high-society party has reopened deep wounds for a country watching the legal system closely. Commenting on the split reality of the victims versus the perpetrators, a user noted: “The Pune Porsche Case, which took the lives of innocent young people, revealed how unfair the justice system is. On one side, parents are left mourning children they will never see again; on the other side, celebrations break out over the granting of bail. Justice in this country is never “JUST.""
Sharing the video, another individual remarked: “Wearing a garland of notes, this is the same couple whose wayward son mowed down two people with his Porsche car in Pune. The families of the victims are still waiting for justice to this day."
The emotional toll on ordinary citizens was summed up in a heartbreaking final thought by an observer: “This is the scene of party for Vedant Agrawal, drunk, who killed two young engineers from Madhya Pradesh seeking livelihood in Pune by ramming his Porsche into their motorcycle at high speed, causing their instant death. Ladies and gentlemen, there can never be a celebration or joy for the parents of those two boys who lost their lives. The judiciary, executive, and legislators all conspired to get Vedant off the hook. No one even knows what condition the parents of those boys are in now. Remember how another engineer boy died in Noida on a winter night while seeking help. Honestly, India is a sick place to live for honest, hardworking, law-abiding citizens."
