Vigilance Officials Confronted by Real-Estate Brokers in Kavali

Kavali One Town Police have registered a case against two alleged real-estate brokers who were reportedly involved in obstructing vigilance and enforcement officials during an inquiry into suspected illegal layouts and encroachments of government land in and around Kavali.

Background of the Incident

The vigilance investigation was launched on May 28 following directions from the director general of vigilance and enforcement into allegations that irrigation canals, government lands, ponds and other public properties had been encroached upon and converted into layouts.

  • Document writers were summoned to provide statements and records related to layouts under scrutiny.
  • CPU units containing records were seized by officials to aid in the investigation.

Accusations Against the Real-Estate Brokers

According to the complaint, Chavala Ramakrishna and Kanakakireeti Ramakrishna allegedly:

  • Entered a document writer’s office while officials were examining records.
  • Questioned the authority of the officials and disrupted the proceedings.
  • Argued with officials and threw aside documents.
  • Prevented officials from carrying out their duties for nearly 20 minutes.
  • Attempted to influence document writers not to cooperate with the inquiry.

Further Investigation

Based on a complaint lodged by Vigilance authorities, police have registered a case and launched further investigation into the matter.
