Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative Launched to Combat Plastic Waste
Bengaluru-based realty firm Sattva Group has joined forces with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global to address the pressing issue of plastic waste along Karnataka's 320 km coastline.
- Partnership Overview: Sattva Group has partnered with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global to launch the 'Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative', focusing on building community-led waste management systems across the state's coastline.
- Initiative Details: The three-year initiative aims to tackle the growing challenge of plastic waste, where plastic accounts for 60 per cent of coastal litter. The program will integrate 50 coastal villages into formal waste management systems and support 200 waste workers.
According to Shivam Agarwal, Vice President, Strategy, Sattva Group, "The coastline is a vital ecological and economic asset, and improving its condition has a direct impact on local livelihoods and communities."
